Patient-Wear FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Here are answers to questions we hear most often from patients and our medical professional customers.
How is it antimicrobial and how long does the garment maintain that property?
Antimicrobial treatments limit the spread of bacteria which helps eliminate infections and the spreading of germs. All Patient-Wear and Wicks garments are treated with Silpure® – a product containing silver which was introduced in 2005. Tests show that even after countless machine washes, Silpure® continues to fight bacteria. For most garments, this means lifetime protection.
What is the advantage of moisture wicking material?
Moisture Wicking refers to the ability of a fabric to move moisture (sweat) away from the skin to the outer layer of fabric where it can evaporate more easily thus helping to keep the skin dry.
Do I need to check with my health care provider before purchasing?
The response from the health care community to Patient-Wear has been extremely positive. It is advocated and currently in use at some of the most respected hospitals in the Country. Not only does it save time during appointments, it also makes the overall patient experience more comfortable.
Can I wear Patient-Wear right after surgery?
Yes, in fact that was one of the key design considerations. Patient-Wear can be worn after most procedures, whether they are inpatient or outpatient. The easy opening seams allow health care professionals to examine and care for the injured area without exposing other parts of the body. It is a welcome alternative to the traditional hospital gown. It is especially helpful when trying to dress and undress with the limited mobility experienced after most surgeries.
How do you wash it?
Wash separately in warm water and tumble dry. When washing Patient-Wear, make certain the velcro/felt closures are securely closed. Do not wash with cottons.
What material is the product made of?
Patient-Wear garments are made with 100% flat back mesh polyester.
Does the Velcro last?
Yes, we tested the durability on 14 prototypes and found the best combination of felt and Velcro.
What colors are available?
Patient-Wear is currently available in navy and maroon. We will be introducing additional color sets later this year.
What sizes are available?
Patient-Wear is unisex and is available from XS to 5XL. Please refer to the sizing chart for more information.
